A SPITTING Image puppet of Bury-born comedienne Victoria Wood is expected to fetch up to £400 in a memorabilia auction.
The spoof puppet of the former Bury Grammar School pupil will go under the hammer in a specialist lot at London auction house Sotheby's on Thursday, November 29.
The caricature is sixteen inches high with blinking eyes.
It is one of 269 puppets worth an estimated £100,000 being sold by Spitting Image sculptor Roger Law.
A puppet of Zimbabwe leader Robert Mugabe is expected to fetch around £25 and one of Mary Whitehouse could fetch £60.
But Madonna's puppet is expected to be the star of the show.
The Material Girl's caricature, complete with singing navel, is tipped to fetch more £3,000.
Puppet creator Roger Law sold 301 other Spitting Image puppets last year for £370,105. Baroness Thatcher's fetched more than £11,000 alone.
Ms Wood, also a successful actress and writer, was one of four people to be presented with an honorary degree recently at Manchester University UMIST.
It was the latest in a series of honours to be received by the television funny lady, who has been awarded the OBE, and in 1995, became an Honorary Fellow of Bolton Institute.
