JUST four days after being arrested and bailed for the theft of a DVD player, Glen Worthington staged a virtual action reply.
Bury magistrates were told the 24-year-old was first caught after he entered the Asda store in Radcliffe accompanied by a woman.
Mr Mark Humphries, prosecuting, said the couple were tracked around the store by CCTV cameras. Worthington was seen to pick up a DVD player which he placed in his trolley.
The court was told that a short time later he was seen to rip the security tag off the machine and hide it behind a stack of other goods.
Between them the couple had just £25 in cash and no other way of paying for the player.
Four days after being given bail, Worthington of Lavender Road, Farnworth, was next seen in Tesco at Horwich. There he used the same procedure to steal another DVD player.
Worthington, who pleaded guilty to two charges of theft, was said to have a lengthy criminal record. He was sentenced to three months imprisonment.
