The Royal Bolton Hospital overspent on nurses in June by £356,000, compared to a May overspend of £56,000;
The overall budget for the Royal Bolton Hospital this year is £110 million, mainly given by the Wigan and Bolton Health Authority who are allocated funds by the Government;
The Royal Bolton NHS Trust, set up in 1994, controls three hospitals including Bolton, Fall Birch Hospital and Hulton Hospital, with more than 1,000 beds between them;
It is Bolton's second biggest employer, with more than 3,500 employees;
The privately-run Beaumont Hospital on Chorley New Road is expanding to help cut NHS waiting lists for surgery. The Royal Bolton Hospital has agreed to pay its private counterpart to perform operations to ease some of the pressure on beds.
