A BUSINESSMAN is to pledge his support to the people of America in the wake of September's terrorist attacks by carrying the stars and stripes standard during Sunday's Remembrance Day service in Chorley.
Terry Seeds, 55, who served in the armed forces for 27 years, said he wanted to carry the flag as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives when New York's World Trade Centre was attacked on September 11. Mr Seeds, who now runs a picture framing business in town, served with the Royal Corps of Signallers, completing tours of duty in Singapore, Malaya, the Middle East, Germany and the UK.
He has had permission to carry the flag from the town's branch of the Royal British Legion.
"It's just my way of expressing support for those poor people." Mr Seeds said.
