GARETH Farrelly has won a late recall to the Republic of Ireland squad for Saturday's World Cup showdown with Iran.
The Wanderers midfielder fit again after early season injury problems, replaces Wolves winger Mark Kennedy in Mick McCarthy's party for the first leg of the play-off decider in Dublin.
Farrelly won the last of his six caps 17 months ago in the 1-1 draw with the United States in Boston.
Akinori Nishizawa - still to figure for Wanderers in the Premiership - is in the Japan squad for today's prestige friendly against Italy in the inaugural fixture at the Saitama Stadium, which will be the venue for one of the semi-finals at next year's World Cup Finals.
