JUSSI Jaaskelainen is racing to be fit for Wanderers' next Premiership test at Ipswich.

The Reebok keeper is no nearer understanding the cause of the back problem that forced him to pull out of the Everton game just seconds before kick off.

But he is hoping a fortnight's rest and intensive treatment will get his the all-clear for the Portman Road trip.

"My lower back is still stiff," the Finland international admitted, "but I'm having treatment on it every day and hopefully I will get better in time for the next Premiership fixture."

Jaaskelainen, who missed the Aston Villa game through suspension, was due to return against Everton but dramatically limped off just before the game after his back seized up.

Veteran Kevin Poole, who had surprisingly been preferred to Steve Banks as understudy, was thrown on as a late replacement with Banks being called down from the stand to take his place on the subs' bench.

"Initially I felt a bit of stiffness but that was all," the keeper told his official website. "Then it happened again.

"The second time I found I couldn't move at all and that was a bit worrying for me. My back just locked and I couldn't move.

"I went to have a scan to make sure there was nothing too serious but it was all okay."
