THREE Bolton firefighters were part of the Greater Manchester Fire Service cross country team which won the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service cross country race.
Steve Kenyon seventh, Terry Orrell eighth, Andy Stephenson ninth, and Eric Ranicar 14th were the winning four with London Fire Brigade second and Cheshire third. Kenyon, Orrell and Stephenson all serve at Bolton's Moor Lane Fire Station. The final race in the calendar takes place in Croxteth Park, Liverpool, in December, and should see the team, represented by the local athletes of Bolton and Horwich crowned British Fire Service Champions.
RESULTS -- 1. Stuart Hall (Devon Fire Service); 2. Glen Whellams (Cheshire Fire Brigade); 3. John Sear (London Fire Brigade); 7. Steve Kenyon (GMC Fire Service); 8. Terry Orrell (GMC Fire Service); 9. Andy Stephenson (GMC Fire Service); 14. Eric Ranicar (GMC Fire Service).
