MICHAEL Ricketts' stunning drive for the second goal in Wanderers' 5-0 opening day triumph at Leicester is the third most powerful Premiership strike this season.

The Sunday People yesterday combined with Sky Sport to work out the Top 10 fastest goals so far - and Wanderers own Rocket Man, who has taken the Premiership by storm, was timed at 67.4mph.

Surprise winner was Blackburn Rovers' Tugay's 30 yard drive against Southampton, timed at a staggering 84.2mph.

The unofficial contest was sparked after John Arne Rise's tremendous free kick against Manchester United the previous week.

Although many thought that must have been just about the most powerful free kick many had seen, it was timed at just 68.4mph, to take second place.

Alan Stubbs' free kick for Everton at the Reebok last week just made the Top 10, but surprisingly was timed at only 56.6mph!

Top 10:

1 Tugay (for Blackburn at Southampton, 84.2mph, 30.3 yards)
