A DREAM came true at the weekend when a new church on Rock Street, Horwich, was dedicated and opened to the public.
Horwich Christian Fellowship was founded in 1957 and members worshipped at the Aenon Chapel until the mid-1990s when they sold their building and rented Rivington House, Horwich.
Under a scheme led by Pastor Phil Worsley, the pensioners' hall on Rock Street was demolished, making way for the new community church building.
As well as a main hall there is a second hall for use by the community and youth groups, classrooms for the Sunday School, offices, a kitchen, toilets and a creche. On Sundays there will be services at 10.30am and 6.30pm. On Wednesday mornings, mothers and toddlers meet and the Silver Liners get together in the afternoon from 2pm.
Youth activities will be held at the church from 7.30pm to 9pm on Fridays. For inquiries about the church ring 690922.
