AS someone who travels to Wanderers away games regularly , I am surprised by the way away supporters are segregated within the Reebok.
Splitting the South Stand vertically with vast expanses of plastic webbing is not commonly found at the larger grounds - Arsenal , Man U , Liverpool etc.
Why not do what Millwall do and give the away fans the entire South Stand - if demand warrants it - and do away with the webbing ?
The increased revenue generated by selling several hundred additional seats would pay for the additional stewards andpolice that larger followings warrant.
Similarly, how come I can go to West Ham or Arsenal or Liverpool and have only a human chain of stewards occupying one seat width of segegation and yet the Reebok needs vast acres of unoccupied seats ?
With smaller numbers of visitors why not put them in one tier only ? Preferably the top tier (again as per Millwall ) that way they make less noise at pitch level - giving Bolton the advantage.
There is no easy answer to the problems as manifest at the Everton game other than common sense.
Measures such as holding back visiting supporters as happened to Bolton fans at Old Trafford should be considered, also ticket distribution is often better channelled through existing season ticket holders who police themselves, rather than putting excess tickets on open sale to non members.
