Wanderers' Ladies BOLTON Wanderers Ladies had five teams in action this weekend, in a mixture of cup and league games.

In the Lancashire Girls League Cup, the Under 12A team continued their successful run, winning through to the semi-finals with a comfortable 8 - 0 win at home to Morecambe Youth. Goals came from Samantha Mee (2), Rebecca Abbott, Kirsty Bennett, Helen Baron and Sally Worthington (3).

The Under 14s were not so lucky in their quarter final tie losing 5 - 1 with Natasha Strickleton getting the only goal.

The Under 16s entertained table-topping Burnley Girls and went down 3-0.

In the North West Women's League Bolton Wanderers Ladies returned to league action after their cup exploits of recent weeks. Playing away to Mond Rangers, they made it five wins out of five and maintained their promotion challenge.

Wanderers were never under any threat from a struggling Mond team, and were effectively set the challenge by Mond to break down a packed defence. Bolton did just that, with great efficiency.Goals came from Ann Truffas (2), Kim Bain, Emma Tyrrell, Clare Smith, Jeanette Williams, Chris Hughes, Joanne Fairclough and Ann Marie Taylor .

The Ladies are likely to face a much sterner test next week at Tempest when they face Bury Ladies, current league leaders with six wins out of six.

Last, but certainly not least, the Bolton Wanderers Ladies Under 12B team recorded its first win of the season and they did it in style.

They defeated Burnley Girls U12B 11-0 with player of the match Rebecca Grimshaw grabbing six goals, Natasha Gannon four and Emily Husted another.
