MATCH of the Day in the Bolton Pioneer Sunday Football League was the Division One clash between league leaders Samba and second-placed Rigby Taylor.
Samba went into a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Cover, Robinson and Price. In the second half, further goals from Cover, plus an own goal, sealed a 5-0 victory for Samba.
Royal Hotel moved into second spot after a 2-0 away victory against Kings Arms, Goodridge on target for Royal.
Queens are keeping the pressure on the leaders after a 5-3 victory over Sharples,Crossman, Phillips, Knowles and O'Rourke all on target for Queens.
Great Lever got back to winning ways with a 4-1 away victory over G H Maughan with Vasaya, Stringer and Benger all on target for Great Lever. Jones replied for Maughan.
Poacher picked up their second victory of the season after they beat Green Boys 7-2.
Faux Forest had an excellent 5-2 home victory against Hitachi, Barlow, Murphy, Forshaw and Owen on the scoresheet for Faux. McKay and Kirby replied for Hitachi.
In the Premier Division, Astley Miners moved closer to regaining the title they won last season after they beat Hilton Lane 7-1.
Fairhurst le4d the spreee with five goals. Powell and Critchley also on target. Moss replied for Hulton Lane with a 35-yard shot.
Farnworth Vets, Miners' nearest challengers, went down to a shock 3-2 defeat at King William.
Spread Eagle had an excellent 2-1 victory over Gatehouse with goals from Oniss, Nelson, and Nightingale replied for Gatehouse.
Ellesmere and Cattlemarket had to settle for a 3-3 draw. Cattlemarket raced in to a 3-1 lead with a hat-trick from Whittaker, but Ellesmere piled on the pressure and, in the second half, goals from Whitley and Murphy sealed a point for Ellesmere.
Highest scorers of the day were Farnworth Royals with a 10-3 away victory over Commercial. Dunne, Goldie and Thompson all scored twice. Simpson, Arden, Southwood and Hodgen sealed the victory.
