NO doubt some people will be pleased to know that the Lancashire police have enough spare capacity to send officers out on forays -- many late at night -- around the West Pennine Moors seeking out gay men whose activities, save for police intervention, would remain largely unobserved.
Your report of November 9 (Police patrols target gay lay-by lovers) leads me to believe that sections of the police still have -- despite protestations to the contrary -- a deep anti-gay bias which leads them to dance to any tune played on the fiddles of the moral right or the morally righteous, despite the fact that the enforcement of morals is not the business of the criminal law.
