ARE there any budding Trevor McDonalds or Kirsty Youngs out there?
Chorley's exciting new radio station is giving local people a wonderful opportunity to break into broadcasting as newsreaders.
Chorley FM relaunches this Sunday for a month-long stint on air and is seeking to recruit people aged 18 and over who can deliver the news live and with confidence.
Station manager Paul Wilkins -- better known as Paul K -- said: "We will be covering local news as well as national news and traffic and travel of course.
"We are currently on the lookout for newsreaders. Anyone who is interested can ring 01257 266299 and ask for me.
"We will bring them along to the studio, try their voice and see if we can get them reading some of the news."
Chorley FM -- launched during the town's Midsummer Festival this year -- takes to the airwaves again on Sunday on a temporary 28-day licence.
The station will feature music, news, community information and local sports coverage.
Chorley-born Paul was a former DJ at the Howard before buying and running the Malt 'n Hops, Friday Street, Chorley.
He runs a business that supplies new radio stations with equipment and helps set up roadshows.
He explained: "Some of the presenters of the original Chorley FM are still here.
"We have a sales team and are in a fully up to date studio using all sorts of computers.
"I actually do this all round the country, but it is nice to do it in my home town for a change."
The station has been busy securing advertising from local businesses and has a whole range of exciting features to put on air.
A roadshow will take place in Chorley town centre to herald the relaunch of the station and another roadshow will be set up the town's exciting Christmas lights switch on Thursday, November 25.
From December 15, the Mayor of Chorley's Christmas message will be broadcast and this will be followed by further civic and community messages.
There will also be interviews with experts on seasonal topics, such as tips for buying your loved ones the perfect Christmas presents and safety advice from police force members.
The station, broadcasting on 87.9FM from a studio on Bolton Street, also has its own website -- www.chorleyfm
