BOLTON Parish Church will have its grounds bathed in candlelight during a Candles of Hope evening in aid of the Bolton Busting Breast Cancer Campaign.
By lighting a candle on the grass, family and friends of cancer sufferers are given the opportunity to remember or think about their loved ones.
Anyone can join in the event, on December 1, by writing a message on the side of a translucent bag. A candle placed in the bag will burn throughout the evening. A piper will perform at regular intervals during the event which lasts from 3pm until 7pm.
A donation of £5 will go towards raising money for the BEN-backed appeal's research.
Christine Blease, special appeal manager for BBBC, said: "We hope as many people as possible come along to what will no doubt be a very moving ceremony.
"It will be a time to share experiences as well as to contribute towards the important work being made to treat breast cancer."
At 7pm, there will be a service in the church with the theme of hope. It will embrace a number of different faiths as well as people who have no religious beliefs. Singing, prayers, poems and, of course, candles, are all set to be part of the night. Wine, soft drinks and mince pies will be served during a break.
The second half of the night will feature a concert by the Ladybridge Singers.
Tickets for this part of the evening cost £4 and are available from the Market Hall this Saturday and the following Saturday.
