CHILDREN In Need fever has hit town -- complete with fund-raising activities, fancy dress and even the odd Elvis impersonation.
Transco office worker Shobna Mistry and her friends became "Spice Girls" for the day by tempting their colleagues with some delicious tastes of India.
Shobna and the girls donned saris and sold home-made Indian delicacies at Transco's Spa Road offices in Bolton to raise funds for the BBC Children In Need appeal. Also in the pipeline was a £100 sponsorship from colleagues for the boss, Alan Bird, to join in the fun and wear a sari for the day.
Staff at Asda in Middlebrook held a host of activities, including a pogo stick challenge, a run to London in 24 hours -- on a running machine -- and a splash for cash event. They also had a special visit by Children In Need mascot Pudsey Bear.
And tonight will see an extra special BBC GMR Variety Show in the Millennium Suite at Manchester City FC's Maine Road stadium. The Houghton Weavers will top the bill and promise to Keep Folk Smilin' with some of their best known tunes. Support comes in the shape of the Abraham Moss Theatre and Panto Group performing routines from the hit show Arnie.
Great Britain Rugby League Cheerleaders and the Manchester City Junior Blues will be performing.
One to look out for is an amazing Elvis impersonation from Bolton Wanderers' Lofty The Lion. He will be joined by Children In Need's very own Pudsey Bear and Kit, the Commonwealth Games mascot.
The show starts at 6.30pm. Tickets can be bought on the night. SPICE GIRLS:
