JIM Magilton, the man whose hat-trick sank Wanderers and launched Ipswich into Premiership orbit 18 months ago, says a repeat performance of that famous play-off triumph is a must for the Tractor Boys.
"This game is as important as that play-off match," says the Northern Ireland midfielder.
"We owe it to the manager and the club to start doing well again."
Ipswich, who stunned the Premiership by finishing fifth last season, have progressed to an exciting UEFA Cup third round duel with Inter Milan but they have won only one of 12 league games and George Burley, the Manager of the Year last season, is just one game away from going 11 without a win - his worst run since his appointment in December 1994.
Now, with Ipswich in the relegation frame, the experienced Magilton says it is time to deliver.
"We owe it to the manager and to the club to start doing well," he said.
"Bolton will be very difficult opposition and they will feel that, if they can win at Old Trafford, they can come here and get a good result too.
"They have a lot of useful attacking players and Ricketts is one we'll have to watch in particular.
"When you look at the fixture list this is one we would put down as a home win for ourselves. It's not about Bolton, it's about how we approach the game. We've had a fortnight off when we've worked on a few deficiencies and, hopefully, we can get the win everyone so desperately wants for us and which we want for ourselves."
Burley respects Wanderers for following in Ipswich's footsteps. "What they have done this season has been excellent," he said, "the away wins in particular. All credit to Sam Allardyce and his squad."
Matt Holland, who played a key midfield role in the Republic of Ireland's World Cup "triumph" in Iran on Thursday, has declared himself fit.
Ulrich Le Penn, the winger Burley signed for £1.5 million from French club L'Orient this week, will make his debut with Ipswich selecting from: Sereni, Makin, Bramble, Venus, Hreidarsson, Wright, Peralta, Magilton, Holland, Le Penn, Stewart, Naylor, Clapham, Wilniss, Counaga, Reuser, Bent, Branagan, Croft, Miller, McGreal.
