No change at the top of the Premier Division. Ramsbottom A hold a nine-point lead over Farnworth A but have played one match less. The Farnworth side scored a comfortable 6-3 win at Lostock, which included a treble by Louis Rosenthall. Phil Biggs, the new top ten leader, scored a treble, along with Brian Clemmence in Horwich Hilton A's 7-2 win at Ramsbottom C. Ron Pennington also trebled for Hilton A in their 6-3 win at Cricketers. Wharton A ran out 5-4 winners in a close match with Ramsbottom B
Division One top ten leader, Craig Johnson, trebled for Nomads A in their 6-3 win against Heaton A. They now lead the division by 11 points but have played two more matches than their rivals. Second-placed Little Lever B ran out 7-2 winners at Chorley Old Road, which included trebles by Roy Costello and Richard Simmons. Eddie Simon scored a treble on his first appearance of the season for Ladybridge A in their 6-3 win over Heaton B, and a two-man Horwich Hilton B ran out 5-4 winners at Wharton thanks to three wins by Chris Byrne and two by John Howarth.
Division Two leaders Wingates B scored maximum points against Ladybridge C, giving them a three-point advantage, with a match in hand over BEN A who also scored maximum points against Little Lever C, trebles for Hannah Roberts, Greg Lee and Malc Jackson for Wingates, and Mike Audsley, Mike Heaton and Rod Hall for BEN. Top Ten leader, Pete Bladen, trebled for Hilton B in their 6-3 win over Meadow Hill B, and Steve Barber scored three wins for Heaton D in their 7-2 win over Ladybridge B
The leaders of Division Three, Heaton E, are now only one point ahead of Halls who have a match in hand. The Heaton team won a close match 5-4 at Hilton D which included a treble by top ten leader Alan Compton. Halls closed the gap by taking maximum points from their match with Hilton E, trebles by Geoff and Rob Hall and James Fletcher. Halliwell Meths, who move into third spot, scored a 7-2 win against Farnworth C which included a treble for Ian Bateson, as did Alan Price for Little Lever D in their 7-2 win over Ladybridge D.
Bolton YMCA, who hold a slender one-point lead over Jubilee A at the top of division four, lost a close match 5-4 to Hilton F. The treble by Steve Roz which included a win over top ten leader Jack Quinn was the decisive factor. Roger Bolton trebled for the Jubilee team in their 6-3 win against Hilton H, and Kirit Chauhan trebled for BEN B in their 6-3 win at Heaton F.
The two top teams in division five both scored maximum points victories -- leaders Hilton I against Meadow Hill C, and Ellesmere A against Ladybridge H, trebles for Gilbet Wilkinson, Ron Ainsworth and George Laks for Hilton, and Paul Jackson, Geoff Ainsworth and Tony Markland for Ellesmere. David Miller trebled for Jubilee B in their 5-4 win over Ellesmere B, and the three wins by John Pillington was the deciding factor in the 5-4 win by Hilton K over their 'J' team.
