I WAS greatly saddened to read the tragic story of Carly Bateman. How many deaths will it take before proper measures are introduced to protect these vulnerable youngsters from drugs and crime.

At the age of 17 I was going out with my first proper boyfriend, going to college and planning the rest of my life. How tragic that at this age Carly's life revolved around getting drugs and money. She clearly needed a lot of support - but no one could give it to her.

I see young girls working the streets of Bolton. Someone, somewhere must be made responsible for these victims. How many more young girls have to die, like Carly, before something is done?
