A SUCCESSFUL campaign against plans to build a coal storage and distribution yard in Blackrod has been praised by Bolton West MP Ruth Kelly.
Residents of Station Road finally saw the scheme by CMR (Estates) Ltd to build the yard next to their homes unanimously rejected by Town Hall planning chiefs.
"I have never believed that the roads were adequate to take a further 4,000 lorry movements a year and I give full marks to those residents who played such an active part in persuading the council to say 'No to Coal'," the MP said.
"This is good news for the residents of Station Road, Blackrod, and Horwich".
Campaign leader Janet Fletcher thanked everyone for their support. RUTH KELLY:
Full marks
