LORD Nelson AC, after a glorious year, fishing matches on some of the best venues in the country, finished with an aggregate match on a very clear and off-form Bridgewater Canal.
Some pre-match tension was in evidence as Kenny Stewart had to finish five places better off than long time aggregate leader, Pat Power to snatch the championship but it was not to be as only one place separated the pair but both had fished well enough to frame.
Those who really knew how to fish bloodworm did better than the rest with frugal feeding with joker keeping the small perch interested.
Trevor Bevin has kept in touch with the top of the aggregate all season but surprisingly had not won a match this time after winning four last year. That was to change as the Farnworth angler returned the best weight with perch caught at 11 metres for 3lbs-2ozs-9drs. Second was Kenny Stewart with 2lbs-7ozs-0drs, Pat Power third 1lb-9ozs-15drs.
Others: 4th. Mark Armitage 1-8-14, 5th. Eric Bent 1-1-12, 6th. Jonathon Porter 1-0-4.
