BY Monday lunchtime I was left wondering what it will take to make Wanderers fans happy.
A 2-1 win at Ipswich Town - one of England's representatives in Europe this season, no less - left me shaking my head in disbelief and wonderment at the amazing continued success of Sam Allardyce and his players this season.
Listening to the non-plussed, even critical match verdict of Wanderers fans the next day also left me shaking my head, this time in disbelief at how people can allow their expectations grow beyond all reason and logic.
Anyone who could fail to be ecstatic at the job Wanderers did at Portman are living in cloud cuckoo land and it's hardly any wonder Wanderers struggle at home if this is the level of pressure their fans put on them.
Hardly a smiling face or excited voice greeted this unbelievable victory, instead just a string of negative comments over tactics, lack of excitement and a failure to entertain.
Big Sam and the players are becoming the victims of their own success. Not only are they expected to win now but they've got to do it and entertain the public into the bargain.
Well, I'm sorry but if people want entertainment then go to the Paladium. Wanderers aren't in the business of winning style marks, they're in the business in winning points by hook or by crook and that's exactly what they're doing.
