A BOLTON man appeared before magistrates charged with attempting to assault a police officer with a screwdriver.
Anthony Nicholson, aged 37, of the Salvation Army Hostel on Duke Street, Bolton, is accused of one count of burglary and one count of attempted burglary in the Westhoughton area.
He is also alleged to have attempted to assault a police officer with a screwdriver who was trying to catch him after the alleged burglary attempt.
Magistrates sent the case yesterday to Bolton Crown Court for a pre-liminary hearing on November 29. Nicholson was remanded in custody.
