A POST Office was at the centre of an anthrax scare when white powder seeped out of a letter sent from Pakistan.
Staff at the Kingswood Road post office, Prestwich, followed procedure and put the envelope in a secure plastic container and called the police.
But later, the alert was called off after it was discovered the powder was a medicine which had been sent through the post.
The scare happened at 6.35am yesterday as staff were sorting the mail. Det Sgt Duncan Heywood said: "We spoke to the person named in the address, who confirmed it was from a relative in Pakistan, and it was found the envelope had contained medicine."
