WORRIED Farnworth residents are pressing for urgent work to be carried out on a traffic light junction box.
Since vandals pushed over the metal box at the entrance to a passageway between Lichfield Close and Plodder Lane, local people have been concerned about exposed wiring.
The passageway is used by children going to March Lane Primary School, including Sophie Higson who is taken past the box twice a day by her grandmother, Rhoda Higson.
"It's been like this for nearly a month," said Mrs Higson. "They put a barricade around it but people keep pushing it away. All the wires are exposed."
Concerned residents have been in touch with the police and Bolton Council in a bid to get repairs done quickly.
A council spokesman said: "This is an older-style control box and the Urban Traffic Unit has now managed to track down a replacement cover which, hopefully, will be installed in the next few days.
"In the meantime, workmen will visit the site again to make sure that the box is safe. It has been taped off and we would ask people not to interfere with it for safety's sake."
