Wanderers staged a fantastic comeback at the Dell after going a goal down to FA Cup holders Southampton.
Former Manchester United striker Ted MacDougall put the Saints ahead just before half-time from close range. Wanderers rallied after the break with Neil Whatmore firing in from inside the box after a cushioned header from Sam Allardyce. A second goal came from good play from Whatmore which set up Steve Taylor. He grabbed the third and his 15th of the season when he finished off a move set up by Willie Morgan.

WANDERERS sailed through to the third round of the FA Cup after a comfortable win over Emley.
Patient Bolton went ahead in the 39th minute when David Reeves got on the end of a Tony Kelly cross and powered a header past Ray Dennis in the Emley goal. The second goal came with the benefit of an offside decision by the linesman but there was no doubting Kelly's quality cross and, again, the clinical finish from Reeves. To cap off a totally professional performance, Tony Philliskirk fired home 11 minutes from time.

TWO points dropped was the outcome of Wanderers' clash with Crystal Palace. The Whites were cruising at 2-0 before allowing the visitors to storm back to equalise. A fantastic strike from John Sheridan put Bolton in the driving seat and a couple of minutes later looked to have the game sealed up when Scott Sellars put a hopeful ball into the box and John McGinlay was brought down in the box. McGinlay, dusted himself down before firing home from the spot. Wanderers eased up and Palace took full advantage when David Hopkin narrowed the gap before Dougie Freedman tapped in from close range.
