THE tragic deaths of Carly and Charlene raises the issues of drugs and prostitution.

But how do these children get into these situations?

Do they just "fall in with the wrong crowd" and parents realise too late? Or are we not as interested in our children's lives/friends/activities as we ought to be?

We should never neglect our responsibilities as parents and become complacent about where they are, who they are with and what they are up to.

It is too easy when problems arise and the going gets tough to blame society, or pass the buck.

The right family values and giving children a stable, loving home is a step in the right direction.
