Little Lever Library is displaying an exhibition of pictures of the men who lost their lives in the two World Wars.

The pictures accompany brief details of the soldiers lives and the circumstances of their death.

Although for one man the report ends with the information that his wife did not have a photograph of him. Each is a sad and heroic story.

The display shows the contribution that Little Lever, like so many small towns, made to the war effort. The library is also a war memorial for the men, depicting the names of 79 men who died in the First World War and 28 Little Lever men killed in the Second World War on a tablet of Coniston sea green slate.

The display is running until November 30. The library is open on Monday and Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm, 9.30am to 7.30pm Tuesday, and Thursday, 9.30am to 12.30pm Saturday, and is closed on Wednesday.
