U-14s get off the mark in style BOLTON Under 14s have finally won their first game of the season.
And what a win it was - a 1-0 triumph against Merseyside schoolboy giants Liverpool.
The Bolton youngsters opened the scoring in the first minute through Sean Chambers (Mount St. Joseph's) and that's the way it stayed throughout the rest of the match.
Bolton had previously drawn four and lost three but team manager Ivor Altdorf has never doubted his team's ability.
Altdorf said: "They have played some good football in the other games but it's good to get a win. Our lads were the better side in the first half but we had to defend in the second half."
Bolton were set to play Stockport in the Greater Manchester Schools' League this morning and they have scheduled their Greater Manchester Schools' County Cup first round match for Saturday, December 15.
Bury Under 15s were also celebrating last weekend after beating Blackpool 2-1 at the seaside.
Bury have gone six games without a win stretching back to September 22 but they hit top form to beat Blackpool with goals coming from Kyle Cromey and Michael Wilkinson.
