THIS year, as I do every year, I attended the Remembrance Day Service at Farnworth cenotaph.
I was very pleased to see a bigger turn out than last year.
It is nice to see so many young faces giving up their Sunday to honour the dead. I was, however, much saddened to see that none of my local councillors, Harper Green Ward, were in attendance. Did they pay their respects elsewhere? Could they not attend through work commitments? Or, like most British people these days, did they just treat it as another day to have a lie in?
Perhaps the Town Hall should remind all its councillors of the time and place of the Remembrance Day services next year. Lest They Forget.
