MR or Ms "Name and Address Supplied" may describe his or her own letter as "ramblings", but (s)he needs to prove that my own letters have a similar lack of structure.

My position is clear -- I oppose killing Afghans because I oppose killing

Americans: all are human beings and as such deserve to have the most fundamental right of all, the right to life. Since I would not personally burn anyone alive, I object strongly to its being done in my name. If society is prepared to approve of incineration on an industrial scale, it really can't complain if some young people become brutal thugs capable of setting fire to a drunken tramp.

And let us be objective. The attacks on the US were not motiveless, any more than the retaliatory US attacks on Afghanistan. Both can be explained, neither can be justified. And let us be accurate. If the aim of the US was to overthrow a repressive government, it could have attacked Afghanistan at any time since the Taliban came to power. There are many repressive governments: if it was legitimate to attack them for that reason, then we'd better tear up the UN Charter and have done with it. And do we really want to usher in an era of perpetual warfare? For that is what we way well be in for.
