DESPITE going down to their second pre-season defeat Lynx showed enough in this game to suggest that a much better season lies ahead.
Lynx had plenty of possession but all the changes made to the team during the second half possibly cost them the games.
Outstanding for Lynx were ex-Warrington and Leigh half back John Duffy on his debut along with Mike Prescott and Safraz Patel.
Swinton started the better and were ahead inside three minutes with a try from Karl Fitzpatrick. Lynx started to improve steadily and Eddie Kilgannon levelled the scores in the 16th minute.
Lynx then dominated the proceedings but they were then hit on the break in the 25th minute with a try from Chris Newell converted by Wayne Jackman.
Lynx continued to look the better team and they were finally rewarded three minutes from the break with a try from debutant Andy Lee converted by Lee Birdseye to leave the side's locked at 10-10 at the interval.
Lynx continued the good work early in the second half with a try from Phil Harrison to give them the lead for the first time. However, all the substitutions began to disrupt the team and Swinton took advantage with three tries in 10 minutes through Chris Newall, Jason Roach and Wayne English and two conversions from Craig Dean to give them a 12 point advantage. Lynx battled on to the end and were rewarded three minutes from time with a try from Liam Jones which he also converted.
This Sunday Lynx kick off the new Northern Ford Premiership season with a home fixture against Featherstone Rovers, kick off 3pm.
After the game Lynx coach Graeme West said: "I was pleased with some aspects of our game but I thought that our short kicking game was poor throughout.
"This is something we still have to work on this week.
"It is difficult when you use so many players, but after today I have a starting line-up for next week in mind and I also know which positions need to be looked at although Tim Street will make a big difference when he is available after suspension."
RESULT: CHORLEY LYNX...20 SWINTON LIONS...26
