SATURDAY: Wanderers drop into the bottom half of the table for the first time as they wait for their Sunday fixture at Ipswich ... meanwhile, George Burlye's top scorer, Marcus Stewart, is sidelined for at least six weeks after suffering a broken jaw in a training ground collision with team-mate Pablo Counaga.

SUNDAY

GUDNI Bergsson scores his first of the season and Michael Ricketts gets his 10th as Wanderers record their third away win of the season, beating Ipswich 2-1. They have to defend stoutly after Matt Holland pulls a goal back just before half-time. But they are good value for their win, which takes them back up to eighth. A booking for Paul Warhurst means the influential midfielder will be suspended for the game at Spurs

MONDAY

RICKETTS insists it's still safety first for Wanderers but sees no reason why they cannot emulate Ipswich. Mike Whitlow says Bergsson should consider scrapping his retirement plans for another year at the end of the season.

TUESDAY

Whitlow pays triubute to Bergsson and Colin Hendry for helping him adapt to the new role of centre-back. "I'm still learning," he admits.

WEDNESDAY

BERGSSON hints that he may consider a new contract in the Spring ... Akinori Nishizawa, Jeff Smith and Dean Holdsworth are on target as the Reserves beat Middlesbrough 3-0 at the Reebok. New keeper Jani Viander makes his debut.

THURSDAY

DEAN Holdsworth says the players are united in their backing for the PFA in the TV cash dispute but urges both sides to get back round the negotiating table. The Bolton players and the directors, he insists, are determined not to let the row affect the Reebok team spirit. Dean Holden's loan deal at Oldham is extended until the end of the season.

FRIDAY

BURNDEN Leisure - Wanderers' parent company - report a loss of £8million over the last financial year, taking their overall debt to more than £33m. But chairman, Phil Gartside, insists the benefits of playing in the Premiership will far outweigh the high cost of getting there and that the figures are in line with the "strategic plan and long-term goals". Jeff Smith joins Macclesfield on a month's loan.
