POPULAR public toilets have been closed after vandals struck twice in just a few days.
But council staff have vowed to get them re-opened as soon as possible.
They are hoping to have the town centre toilets in Ramsbottom back in full working order as quickly as possible after vandals struck yet again.
In the second attack, vandals ripped the sink off the wall in the self-contained public convenience unit at Market Place.
On both occasions the vandals are believed to have jumped on the sink to dislodge it from its fittings.
The latest closure was ordered on safety grounds due to exposed wiring.
The internal vandalism was further compounded by the fact that some form of fast-acting glue was used on the electronic door lock, which will have to be replaced.
A Bury Council spokesman said: "We believe the vandalism may well have been caused by the same individuals. We would ask local people to keep an eye open, especially if they notice anyone loitering in the area.
"These facilities are actually highly resistant to vandalism, but when determined efforts like this are made to cause damage, there is little chance of preventing it."
Anyone with information about the vandalism attacks should call police on 0161 872 5050.
