Turton Rotary Club have announced details of their annual Christmas sleigh run to help brighten up the festive season for hundreds of disadvantaged youngsters in Bolton.

Rotarians will take to the streets and supermarkets of Bolton from tomorrow and have appealed for residents to back the annual fund-raising campaign.

A team of snowmen with collecting buckets will join Father Christmas on a specially adapted sleigh visiting streets throughout Bolton. Children will enjoy sweets as Rotarians collect donations.

Bucket collections will also be held at Bolton supermarkets.

Turton Rotary Club hopes to raise £5,000 this year. All donations will go towards club funds and pay for gifts in the annual Christmas present appeal at churches across Bolton.

Rotarian Jim Turner said: "For the under-fives it is absolutely magic. It is also a very important fund-raiser for us as well.

"The money raised is also going to be used to buy children's Christmas presents for those who may not receive many this year."
