Phats and Small -- This Time Around

music made by three blokes who you definitely wouldn't push in front of at Tesco.

They look proper hard geezers, a bit like they've just walked out of the Lock, Stock Smoking Barrels' film set.

Bearing that in mind, this is a truly wonderful album and I won't hear a bad word said against them.

Actually that's not quite true. This album isn't brilliant but it is quite good. Disco dance fans will love it as Phats have created a style all of their own and there's no denying they do it well.

It works best when they come up with a killer melody and they do that best on the title track This Time Around and Creative Service Dept.

Occasionally it gets boring but it is definitely one of the better dance albums you'll hear this year.

Very good but only for the converted. (SC)

Andrew Lloyd Webber -- Gold

Something for the over 40s here.

Basically it is the best songs from all the musicals Webber has written. And it goes to show that what the Lord didn't give to Andy when it came to looks, he certainly gave it to him in musical talent.

The man can write a tune.

Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Take That Look Off Your Face, Oh What A Circus and The Phantom Of The Opera are all good songs and there's plenty of others too.

It does veer towards slushy towards the end when we not only get The Perfect Year by Dina Carroll but also the horrible No Matter What sung by the small nasaly one in Boyzone.

Neatly released in time for Christmas and bound to sell by the ocean liner load. (SC)
