TWO boy racers are looking to track down some national success.

Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, aged 6, and seven-year-old John Dixon are still only at primary school but have graduated into the competitive world of motor cycling.

The pair, both pupils at Blackrod Church School, are competing this weekend in the Wilden auto motor cross championships, the first in a series of four races designed to unearth tomorrow's moto-cross champions.

Malachi and John both race 50cc bikes and have been riding competitively since their sixth birthday - the minimum age at which they can enter competitions.

Their love of the sport stemmed from riding quad bikes around fields near their homes and the step up into the competitive world of racing came naturally.

Malachi's dad Kevin said: "Riding these bikes is something you either do for fun or with passion and Malachi decided to go down the road of competitive racing.

"This weekend will give them their first serious taste of racing and they are both excited at the prospect."
