FUNDRAISER Alf Hales collected dozens of soft toys and £365 in cash for sick children at Derian House Children's Hospice.
The 80-year-old, of Booth Road, Little Lever, placed boxes in various shops in Bolton asking for donations.
He handed the money and toys to delighted Derian House staff who praised him for his efforts. Lisa Cooke, fund-raising and volunteer co-ordinator, said: "We are extremely grateful for Mr Hales' generosity." Alf said: "I was truly touched when I visited the hospice. The staff do such a wonderful job and it's a cause which I would very much like to collect for in the future."
