PLANS to create extra apartments at a complex in Astley Bridge have been deferred following concerns about traffic.

Developers want to add an extra storey to the previously approved four apartments on land off Gresham Street, at the back of Seymour Road.

But residents, who have submitted a petition of 17 signatures to the planning department, fear the extra flats will put their homes in the shade, create parking problems and affect property prices.

Members of the planning committee requested more information on traffic calming measures and the plans will now be put on hold.
