PATIENTS often owe a special debt of gratitude to medics who restore their health.

And one local patient -- Tracy Massey from Kearsley -- has found a good way to say a floral "thank you" to Beaumont Hospital physiotherapist Philippa Hopkins.

Explains Tracy: "While on holiday, I had an accident which resulted in an operation for a torn Achilles tendon.

"I was in plaster for six weks, unable to put any weight on my leg. Following the removal of the plaster, I began physiotherapy three times a week using the hydrotherapy pool with Philippa.

"I would like to nominate her for a bouquet of flowers as I think she very much deserves them.

"I am so appreciative of all her hard work with me over the past weeks. Philippa has been there to listen to any worries, and has reassured me throughout, giving me confidence to do the exercises.

"The whole physio department has a friendly, welcoming and professional atmosphere which helps enormously.

"I would not be walking again and trying to return to a normal life if it wasn't for Philippa and the physio department."

And Philippa loved the flowers, which arrived courtesy of Caroline Ward's flower and gift delivery service (freephone 0800 289 335).
