PAINTINGS and calligraphy by Japanese artists with disabilities will feature at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery alongside work by local disabled artists. The exhibition, Able Art -- Echoes of the Spirit, runs from December 15 to February 23, and is part of Japan 2001, a year long celebration of Japanese culture being held throughout the country.
Echoes of the Spirit celebrates the diversity and beauty of art created by people with disabilities.
Japanese work will come from the Tanpopo no Ye, a day care centre with sheltered workshops for severely disabled children, and the Able Art Movement in Japan.
Bolton pieces will be submitted from groups and individuals who create their work at the Jubilee Centre and Park Lodge.
