A LANDLORD is angry after intruders broke into one of his empty houses and used the sunbed and the phone.

Ian Hayes, who owns a terraced house on Ashness Drive, Bolton, discovered the house had been broken into, shortly after his tenants moved out.

He discovered the sunbed had been used and found discarded cans and cigarettes.

After blocking up the window with sheets of wood tied with washing line rope, he took the phone out of its socket and dragged the sunbed outside.

He returned the following day to discover the intruders had been back.

He said they had burned through the washing line rope to get into the house and added: "What they did was very dangerous, they could easily have started a fire."

Mr Hayes believes local schoolchildren may be to blame and said more has to be done to combat truanting.

He said: "There is a problem with truanting in this area and I believe it was schoolchildren who broke in, seeing the house as somewhere to go and mess about, when they should be at school."

Police are carrying out an investigation.
