CHORLEY have the chance to avenge a November defeat when UniBond League newcomers Ossett Albion come to Victory Park on Saturday.
Albion, who have had a rude awakening since winning the Northern Counties East championship seven months ago, have collected only three points from 11 away games and are still without an away win.
This time they face a Chorley side bolstered by new signings and with renewed confidence highlighted by a great away win over the other Ossett side, Ossett Town, on Saturday.
The recently-formed strike pairing of Andy Mason and Ian Barker proved too much for a Town side who are up there with the promotion challengers and who had lost only four of their 20 league games.
Chorley were due to take on North West Counties champions Rossendale United, the other side promoted to the UniBond League, at Victory Park this week in another important league match.
WELL placed to qualify for the knockout stages of the UniBond League Cup, Chorley travel to meet Rossendale United on Tuesday for their final Group 4 match.
Even if they lose, the Magpies will go through to the Chairman's Cup quarter-finals unless Radcliffe Borough pull off a win at Accrington in their last match. A draw won't be enough, as Chorley are two points ahead of Kevin Glendon's Borough boys.
Accrington Stanley and Radcliffe have each lost one of their four group games -- both at home to Chorley.
The Magpies fought back from being two goals down to draw 2-2 with Marine at Victory Park in midweek.
Mason pulled a goal back on 73 minutes and after Ian Leather had netted for the second time in three days -- only to see it disallowed because the referee had already blown for a penalty -- Mason coolly stepped up to beat the Marine keeper from the spot to secure a well earned draw.
