CHORLEY'S motorists will soon have no excuse if they are caught speeding after cameras are painted an eye-catching bright yellow.
The new strict guidelines announced by the Government this week intend to maximise the visibility of speed cameras.
The rules state that camera shells must be yellow, that no cameras can be obscured from view and warnings must be placed within one kilometre of a camera site.
Transport Minister John Speller said: "These rules should ensure motorists are not caught by surprise. I hope this will reinforce the Government's message that cameras are there to save lives and not there as a means to raise money."
The new guidelines are binding for Lancashire Constabulary as they are part of a scheme which re-invests money from fines into placing more cameras at dangerous road spots.
