JUSSI Jaaskelainen is ignoring speculation over his future and focusing on enjoying life at the Reebok.

The Bolton keeper, who reckons he is in the best form of his career and happier than at any time since he turned professional, has been the subject of rumour and reports linking him with a big money move to Manchester United - stories club officials have vehemently denied.

But all he is concentrating on at the moment is keeping Wanderers in the Premiership.

"People have said that my current form might be attracting the attention of some big clubs but I don't want to think about that until someone comes up to me and tells me that's the case," the Finland international insists.

"At the moment it's just stuff I've seen in the papers and I want to carry on playing for Bolton.

"I personally feel I'm playing the best football of my career, but it's hard to compare with last season because I'm playing at a higher level now. I'm still very inexperienced - I've only played about 110 games in England still - so I hope my best is yet to come.

"I'm setting my goals step-by-step as I always have so I'm not looking ahead to winning trophies or qualifying for Europe. At the moment, my goal is to help keep Bolton in the Premiership this season and I'm working hard to make sure that happens."

Jaaskelainen has been in sensational form since missing the second half of last season after undergoing surgery to repair a damaged cruciate knee ligament, enhancing his reputation with a succession of saves of the calibre of the one he made from Christian Ziege's free kick in Monday night's Premiership defeat at Spurs.

His form - acknowledged by his position at the top of the statistics tables - reflects his contentment with life on and off the field in Bolton.

"I'm perhaps the happiest I've been since I became a professional, on and off the pitch," he says on his personal website Bigfanof.com. "My family are settled here and enjoying themselves and we have great neighbours and friends too. On the pitch, I'm playing in the Premiership and you have to be happy with that."

Ironically, Jaaskelainen rates Fabien Barthez - the man he has been tipped to replace at Manchester United - as one of the best keepers in the world and is tipping the France international to bounce back after his recent setbacks.

"It's hard to say who the best 'keeper in the Premiership is at the moment because I'd normally go for Barthez but he's having a bad time right now," the Reebok stopper acknowledges. "I still think he's one of the best though.

"He seems to be having all his bad luck in one big patch at the moment because I can't remember him having a bad game over the previous two years. It's hard to say why he's having such a bad time, but I think he's been unlucky too. Sometimes when you make a mistake, you get away with it, but he's not having that luck.

"Massimo Taibi had a bad run of form with Manchester United and then he parted company with them. I could see Fabien having to part company with them too if his run of bad form continues the way it has recently.

"To be honest, though, I can't see this run continuing and I think he'll be back to his best soon. He's a world-class goalkeeper and I expect him to turn things around."
