BOLTON'S advanced youth string ensemble, New Century Strings, performs a concert at Bethel Church, Clarence Street, Bolton, on Saturday at 7.30pm.
Graham Oppenheimer, formerly of the Schidlof Quartet, will be leading an all-day string workshop with the players before the evening concert.
Graham was the leading British violist at the Munich ARD Viola Competition in 1989 and went on to give solo recitals at Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room.
He has appeared in chamber music with artists including Yehudi Menuhin, Paul Tortellier, James Galway and Murray Perahia.
He founded the Leicester International Music Festival in 1989 and has remained its artistic director ever since.
Soloist will be Gerald Hopkin in the Meditation from Thais. The remainder of the programme includes Corelli's Concerto Grosso No 8, Dvorak's Serenade for Strings Op 22, and Mozart's Divertimento K 138.
Tickets -- £4 and £3 concessions -- are available on the door.
