KEVIN Keegan believes that Shaun Wright-Phillips is living proof that good things come in small packages.

Despite the massive competition for places at Maine Road, the 20-year-old has established himself as a permanent fixture in the side this season.

And his progress hit a new level on Tuesday night when he finally grabbed the first senior goal of his career.

His top class winner at Millwall ended a season-long wait to get off the mark for a man who has always been a prolific goalscorer for the youth and reserve sides.

And Keegan believes the addition of goals is the icing on the cake for a player who, while tiny in stature, is big in talent.

"He has ability, pace and a lot of courage and those three things are the recipe for a very good player," said the City coach who has seen the son of ex-Arsenal legend Ian Wright blossom in a midfield which is overflowing in the silky skills department. Ironically, Wright-Phillips' first goal came from the wing back position to which he was switched for the last two games with City reverting to a 3-5-2 formation.

It was just his luck that there were no City fans there to see his first goal as City's followers were banned from the New Den fixture. He said: "It did seem weird without the fans being there. It reminded me of playing Sunday League football.

"Now that I have scored, I hope it will be the first of many. It has been a long time coming but hopefully it was worth the wait."
