Young reserves called in due to the absence of Alan Shawcross, Steve Iley, Jason Barlow and Paul Griffin showed up well on the day with centre back Adam Booth named as man of the match. On Saturday United entertain local rivals Blackrod town with a 2.15pm kick off.
Eagley went down 3-2 at home to Springfields, Steve Settle scoring both for the Villagers.
Stoneclough appear to love the travelling in the West Lancs League as they came back from Barrow celebrating another away win with a 2-1 victory at Askam United. The home side took an early lead when Stoneclough defender Trevor Ball turned the ball into his own net but his blushes were saved when Paul Davis fired a leveller over an advancing keeper.
Ten minutes from time John Openshaw headed home Tim Rees' pin-point cross for a superb winner. Midfielder Ewan Cain won manager Peter Morris' star performer vote with centre back Stuart Hayles and Janusz Heenan also earning high praise.
