SHANE Gibbons ruined the lives of many people who lived in the Sharples area with his intimidation and violent behaviour. The following is a list of incidents, presented as evidence to the magistrates, which illustrate why the boy, who last attended Lever Park school, in Horwich, was feared by so many of his neighbours.
(i) On December 20, 1999, he carried out an act of theft at Barlow Park Youth Club.
(ii) In or about May 2000, July 5, 2000, and in or about October 2000, he committed acts of theft after breaking into Pavilion Cottage, Smithills Dean Road.
(iii) On September 21, 2000, the teenager was arrested for breaking into Oaks County Primary School.
(iv) In November 2000, at Pavilion Cottage, the boy threw fireworks, made threatening remarks, harassed and carried out acts of criminal damage at premises at Pavilion Cottage.
(v) In or about November 2000, the teenager carried out acts of abuse, threats, intimidation and harassment near Smithills Coaching house.
(vi) In February 2001, he carried out threats and harassment on the Oldhams estate.
(vii) On March 3, 2001, the youth was arrested for vehicle interference on Athlone Avenue.
(viii) On April 26, 2001, the teenager made threats, was abusive and carried an iron bar at Sharples leisure centre.
(ix) On April 30, 2001, he was involved in acts of abuse, threats and harassment at Sharples leisure centre.
(x) On April 9, 2001, the youth was abusive during an interview in relation to possession of a counterfeit note.
(xi) On May 10, 2001, he smashed bottles at Sharples leisure centre.
(xii) On May 19, 2001, the boy made threats and was violent and abusive at Sharples leisure centre.
(xiii) On May 29, 2001, the teenager set off a fire alarm and caused criminal damage at Sharples leisure centre.
(xiv) On May 30, 2001, he carried out acts of intimidation, abuse and violence at Sharples leisure centre.
(xv) On May 31, 2001, the youth harassed and abused persons present at Sharples leisure centre.
(xvi) Towards the end of May 2001, he carried out acts of abuse in relation to police officers.
(xvii) On June 4, 2001, he carried out alleged acts of criminal damage.
(xviii) In or about June 2001, the teenager acted in a threatening and abusive manner.
(xix) On July 8, 2001, the boy slashed tyres and broke a window in a caravan in Athlone Avenue and was under the influence of illicit drugs.
(xx) On July 16, 2001, the teenager was guilty of trespass in a house on the Oldhams estate.
(xxi) On July 24, 2001, the youth was in possession of an imitation gun while on the Oldhams estate.
(xxii) Over the last 6-8 months, the defendant acted in an intimidating and anti-social manner by hanging around with large gangs of youths in the Bolton area and, in particular, the Sharples leisure centre area.
