POLICE were fairly confident they had the right man when they arrested Paul Greenhalgh.
Bury magistrates were told that DNA tests carried out on blood found at the scene of a burglary at a mobile office at Pine Street Garage, Radcliffe, matched Greenhalgh's.
Tests showed there was only a one in one billion chance that it was not his.
The court was told that it took nearly two years before Greenhalgh, aged 35, was identified and charged. He admitted the offence before the court.
Greenhalgh, of Cambeck Close, Whitefield, was given a 12-month community rehabilitation order and was ordered to pay £416 in compensation.
